Exhibition “Le français par les jeux” on the occasion of the International Day of the Francophonie (21/03/2013, Presidency of the Lebanese University - Museum)

On the occasion of the International Day of Francophonie, the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences at the Lebanese University organized in collaboration with the Lebanese National Commission, an exhibition entitled "Le français par les jeux".

In her speech, Dr. Wafa Berry, Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences at the Lebanese University, explained that this exhibition, which the Faculty is proud to launch, was conducted in the framework of the Laboratory DeCo, of the Master of Professional Communication in French Language, and reflects the strategy adopted by the Faculty that aims at experimenting with new ways of teaching French. From an exclusively literary approach, the French language has expanded its areas of study, and is also taught in the faculty, through the language of communication in specific professional contexts, through cultural meditation, translation, computer and e-learning, etc... Dr. Berry also mentioned that these games will be converted into digital games as a further step.

Dr. Zahida Darwish Jabbour, Secretary General of the Lebanese National Commission, noted that if English is nowadays the language of technological inventions, given its common use in the business world, and if Arabic is the language of our identity bearing a culture deeply rooted in history, French is the language whose quality remains essential since the Renaissance, spreading a humanist thought that the world is in need of today. She also stressed the importance of teaching literature to enrich the mind and convey the culture of the other.

Dr. Faten Kobrosli, project coordinator, described the methodology of the project, and highly commended the efforts of her students.

In conclusion, a documentary presented the various phases of preparation, with testimonies of all the students who contributed to the realization of the exhibition.
