Workshop for tour guides in the Arab world on the environmental and cultural dimensions of ‎heritage (28-30/07/2015)‎

Under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism, H.E. Mr. Michel Pharaon, the Lebanese National ‎Commission for UNESCO organized, in collaboration with the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural ‎Organization (ISESCO) and the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), ‎a workshop for tour guides in the Arab world on the environmental and cultural dimensions of heritage, from ‎July 28-30, 2015, at Le Commodore Hotel – Hamra.‎

The opening session included speeches from the Secretary General of the Lebanese National Commission ‎Prof. Zahida Darwiche Jabbour, the representative of ISESCO Dr. Soada Maoulainin from the Culture and ‎Communication Directorate, and the Director General of the Ministry of Tourism Mrs. Nada Sardouk.‎

The main aim of the workshop was to highlight tourism in general and cultural tourism in particular, in the ‎promotion of dialogue and cultural exchanges between nations and people, and to bring together tour ‎guides from the following countries: Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, Palestine, Tunisia and Lebanon, given their ‎role in cultural tourism and ecotourism. ‎

The discussions resulted in several recommendations for tourism on the one hand and for tour guides on ‎the other.‎‎
